Restoration of the cockpit of one of the 3 development Gnats Folland made

XM691 first flight on the 31st August 1959

XM691 at Farnborough in Sept 1962, parts of this plane, engine, tail fin and some cockpit were used by Donald Campbell for the Bluebird that later crashed with the death of Donald

XM693 first flight on the 8th March 1960, later it was placed on display at the site of the Folland works at the Hamble in Oct 1980

XM692 first flight was on the 31st Jan 1960

as you can see the nose is missing, after collecting over the last couple of years some instruments that were missing and finding a complete cockpit cover it is now time to start on restoring XM692 to a better looking static display. First we start on mocking up the new nose from the dimensions that from the workshop manual’s I have acquired
